    How to Dispose of Garbage 
    ごみの捨て方について

    Garbage from TIEC is disposed of by the local government (Koto-city). Please of your garbage according to the sorting rules.

    TIECから出るゴミは自治体(江東区)によって処分されます。 分別ルールを守ってゴミを捨ててください

    Do not leave personal belongings at common area!

    Trying to reuse the things that can still be used is great idea. But do not leave things at common areas. If you want to hand your personal belongings to other residents, try to contact them directly. Also, if you are not sure of disposing of specific things, refer to the information below.

    Put only combustible garbage into the chute(MAX 25L). 

    Must not put comforter and pillow.

    布団と枕は絶対に捨てないでください。

    食べ残しや紙類、プラスティックは可燃ごみとして処分してください。

    Spray cans, metal products, ceramics, glass products, umbrellas, light bulbs and batteries 

    are incombustible garbage. 

    スプレー缶、金属製品、陶磁器類、ガラス製品、傘、電球、電池は不燃ごみとして処分してください。

    Remove the label and cap before disposing of the plastic bottles. 

    ペットボトルはラベルを剥がし、キャップをとって捨ててください。

    When you move out , please do not leave any personal belongings in your room.

    退去する際に、残置物(私物)を部屋の中に残さないように注意してください。

    How to dispose of oil

    • Oil disposing agent
      • Using "oil disposing agent" is an easy way to dispose of used oil. Put an agent into hot oil. Oil will be solidified when it gets cold. Dispose of it as a regular combustible.
    • Oil disposing container
      • Using "oil disposing container" is another useful way to dispose of used oil. Pour cold oil into container, then dispose of it as a regular combustible. Note that container must be sealed strictly with duct tapes to avoid leaking oil.
    • Milk packaging method
      • Milk packaging can be used as an oil disposing container. First, open the upper side of empty milk packaging, then put old newspapers or cloth into it. Pour cold oil into it and close the upper side with duct tapes strictly to avoid leaking oil. Dispose of it as a regular combustible.
    • Bring to collection facilities
      • At Koto Ward, some supermarkets, such as Ito Yokado Kiba and York Mart Kitasuna, have used oil collection facilities. Bring used oil contained in plastic bottle to there. Also, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government main building has a used oil collection facility. Collected oil is tuned into fuels for planes. This fuel is called "Sustainable Aviation Fuel".

    How to dispose of seasonings

    • Liquid seasoning (Mayonnaise, worcestershire sauce, ketchup, soy sauce etc.)
      • Open the upper side of milk packaging and put old newspaper or cloth into it. Pour liquid into it and close the upper side with duct tape strictly to avoid leaking. Dispose of it as a regular combustible.
    • Liquid seasoning that contains oil (dressing etc.)
      • First, purchase "oil disposing container". Pour liquid in to it and dispose of it as a regular combustible. You can use milk packaging alternatively. Open the upper side of the milk packaging and put old newspaper or cloth into it and pour liquid into it.  Dispose of it as a regular combustible.
    • Solid seasoning (Soybean paste, jam, jelly, butter, margarin etc.)
      • Wrap them with old newspaper and put them into plastic bag. Dispose of them as regular combustibles.
    • Powder seasoning (Salt, sugar, spices, flour etc.)
      • If they are contained in plastic bag, just dispose of them as regular combustibles.

    How to dispose of detergent and fabric softener

    • Solid detergent
      • Solid detergent can be disposed of as a regular combustible.
    • Liquid detergent
      • Liquid detergent can be disposed of by using milk packaging method. Empty plastic container is a plastic garbage. Wash inside with water and dispose of it as a plastic garbage.
    • Fabric softener
      • Usually, fabric softener is smooth liquid. But old one become thick or some white clot will break out. This means fabric softener is no longer available. Dispose of it as a regular combustible by using milk packaging method. Empty plastic container is a plastic garbage. Wash inside with water and dispose of it as a plastic garbage.
    • Chlorine bleach
      • Chlorine bleach is a powerful detergent and can be harmful to human. Usually, "混ぜるな危険" is shown on its container. This means if it is mixed with other detergent, dangerous and harmful gas can break out. Never do that. Disposing of it is simple. Turn on a faucet to run water, then pour chlorine bleach with water to drainage. Empty plastic container is a plastic garbage. Wash inside with water and dispose of it as a plastic garbage.
